Dear Parents and Carers
You wouldn’t have thought students had been learning from home for six weeks straight on Tuesday morning this week. I got around to classes across Prep – Year 2 and Year 11 & 12 during the week and students looked as if they had settled back into face to face learning with ease. It just goes to show how resilient our students can be when faced with a challenge.
Well done to all of our families, I’m sure it would have been a challenge for some parents to get your child/ren back to school Tuesday morning.
Families that have children in Year 3 to Year 10 still working from home, please keep in contact with the college because we understand that the longer students are learning from home the more difficult it becomes. Thanks again for your support, you are doing a wonderful job and there is light at the end of the tunnel. All students return on Tuesday 9th June and we are very much looking forward to seeing them.
Important Dates
We got some great news last week for our senior students, having their year completed by the end of November is a fantastic outcome for them and we are all really pleased. Some dates that senior students and their families will need to be aware of include;
- Semester 1 reports – Friday 26th June
- General Assessment Task – Wednesday 9th September
- Performance Exams – 12th October – 8th November
- Written Exams – 9th November – 2nd December
- Last official day Year 12 – Friday 30th October
- Year 11 Exams – 9th – 13th November
- Year 12 Headstart – 16th – 27th November
- Year 10 Exams – 23rd – 27th November
- Year 11 Headstart – 30th Nov – 4th December
The college has worked to keep our communication consistent through the use of Compass and Facebook. Next term when things are closer to normal we will begin to share some stories and vision of what remote and flexible learning was like for our families. If you have any great photos or stories of how you and your family approached learning from home we would love to see them and share them with our community.
P -4 Campus Pick up and Drop Off
Thanks to our P-4 Campus parents dropping off and picking up their children from the Kiss and Drop area on Woods Road. We appreciate your patience, sometimes we have a lot of traffic lined up ready to pick their children up. Please remember to always move as far forward to the Northern end of the drop off/pick up area so that we don’t end up with cars blocking Woods Road traffic. Parents also have the option to drop students off on Gilmore St and allow their children to walk along the path to the P-4 Campus. Importantly, parents should remain in their vehicle.
Kind Regards
Damien Keel
College Principal
