Literacy Intervention Program
At Yarrawonga College P-12 we acknowledge students can face learning barriers in Reading and Writing. It is well researched that Year 1 has the largest reading and writing growth expectations for students. We recognise this significance by providing students with the best opportunity to reach individual success through the provision of a structured, out of class, Literacy Intervention Program.
The program follows the Response To Intervention Model (RTI) delivering Tier 2 and Tier 3 small group lessons provided by qualified teaching staff. Literacy Intervention lessons are delivered in a dedicated learning space, following the Victorian Department of Education current Curriculum Framework.
Students are identified for the program using a diverse range of assessment tools which are used to form a student’s learning profile and goals. Student progress is monitored from Foundation to Year 4 with supports continuing beyond Year 1 where necessary. The program’s success is supported through high-quality collaboration and engagement between the classroom teacher, families, students and the program teacher.
